Chillies

I love growing chillies.  In fact, I’m a little obsessed with growing chillies.  If I had more window sill space on the south facing side of my house I would plant more chillies.  But (un)fortunately my growing space is currently full.

I’m not an expert on growing chillies, but I think I’ve been fairly successful so far.  In the Autumn of 2014 I bought some seeds from the South Devon Chilli Farm website and decided to plant them anyway.  Now I have a range of plants, some of which have started flowering and fruiting.

My long term aim is to have enough chilli plants of different varieties that I can start experimenting with the chilli sauces and jams that I make – I’d love to have different heats of Sweet Chilli Sauce made using specific varieties.  If you haven’t tried home made sweet chilli sauce then you really are missing out. I’ll track down the recipe and share it here.

Currently I’m growing:

  • Cherry Bomb
  • Big Sun Habanero
  • Aji Crystal
  • Bulgarian Carrot
  • Cayenne
  • Jalepeno
  • Joe’s Long
  • Rokita
  • Hot Chocolate Habanero
  • Red Scotch Bonnet
  • Hungarian Wax
  • Serrano
  • Fatali
  • White Habanero
  • Antillais Caribbean Habanero

Happy growing!

A x
